There are lots of normal variants when it comes to nerve macro and microanatomy.

These include:

  • The roots that contribute to a specific peripheral nerve.
  • The specific nerves that provide innervation to the end organ.
  • The number of branches to a specific end organ.

Peripheral nerve anatomy is not a hard and fast science, individuals and their nerves vary and this must be kept in mind when evaluating and treating patients.
